PRS Clinical Services In Pasadena

Our insemination services

For a woman planning an alternative family, a sperm bank that is fully supportive and understanding of her unique needs is an important part of the insemination process. Our commitment to you is to provide a comfortable, supportive environment for you as you begin the journey to pregnancy.

Our clinicians are specialists in Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), which is performed in our Pasadena medical office. During the procedure, the donor's sperm undergoes careful preparation after which it is deposited directly into the woman's uterus.

It is well established that pregnancy rates are more than twice as high when sperm is administered by IUI rather than by simply placing the sperm in the woman's vagina. IUI is also a non-invasive procedure that costs a fraction of the fees charged for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Since FDA regulations require that donor sperm be frozen and stored for 180 days to permit retesting for infectious disease, PRS recommends two inseminations per cycle, as frozen sperm does not survive in a woman's body as long as fresh sperm.

Our fertility testing and treatment services

For more than 20 years Pacific Reproductive Services, now PRS Clinical Services, has offered fertility testing and treatment in addition to our sperm bank and insemination services.

A fertility evaluation is recommended in women attempting pregnancy who have not conceived after 4 or 5 cycles of well-timed artificial insemination, or a year or more of regular, unprotected intercourse. Earlier evaluation and treatment is recommended for women approaching 40, or who have irregular cycles or a history of endometriosis.

A fertility evaluation at PRS Clinical Services includes taking a medical history of the woman, followed by blood tests for specific hormone levels and ultrasound imaging of her uterus and ovaries. Treatment may involve correcting certain hormone imbalances and/or prescribing mild fertility drugs. PRS Clinical Services does not provide in-vitro fertilization or more powerful injectable fertility drugs. PRS is happy to provide referrals to reproductive endocrinologists for more advanced fertility treatments.
