Choosing parenthood, particularly for women planning alternative families, often involves many complex decisions, but the artificial insemination process itself is quite straightforward.
Here are the steps:
Complete & return the Registration materials.
Registration can be done by fax or US mail. You can begin by downloading the forms from our website or requesting our registration forms be faxed or mailed to you.
All of our clients begin the donor insemination process with an Introductory Consultation. During this informative session you are provided with information about the donor screening process, and about related legal issues and the process of using Willing-To-Be-Known donors. We also provide you with invaluable information about how to predict ovulation, optimal timing of your inseminations, and how to do your own inseminations at home if you are interested. The cost of the Introductory Consultation is included in your Registration Fee.
To screen for any pregnancy-related medical risks as well as genetic health risks for you or your child, we recommend that you have a thorough medical examination that includes a pap smear and testing for certain infectious diseases. These can be completed in a single visit to our office, or may be done and certified by your own clinician using our Medical Certification Form, which you or your clinician return to us.
After considering qualities that are most important to you in a sperm donor, you may download the complete Donor Catalog
or search our Online Catalog to find donors that most closely fit those qualities. You may also order Long Profiles on donors of your choosing. These long profiles contain much detailed information on each donor, and can be mailed, emailed or faxed to you for a nominal fee. We recommend that you choose several donors - in order of preference - when you place your order. The PRS staff is always ready to assist you with ordering your specimens and scheduling your insemination. Additional Donor Consultation and Photo Matching Services are available upon request.

You can do inseminations at your home, here at PRS, or in your own clinician's office.
Using the techniques for ovulation prediction you were taught during the Introductory Consultation, the PRS Staff will assist you with the timing and scheduling of your inseminations or sperm shipment.
If you live outside of the San Francisco or Los Angeles areas, you can register with PRS via email, fax or US mail and conduct your Introductory Consultation over the phone. Your own clinician can perform the physical exam and lab tests, and report the results to us on our Medical Certification Form. Arrangements can be made to ship semen to your home or your doctor's office.
